Cry-Baby: A Classic Review

He's the kiiing! KING CRY BABY!!!

Well, Cinema Obsessed follower Leslie let us know that we just HAD to talk about this movie. And I jumped at the chance!

Cry-Baby is a 1990 John Waters film which parodies the rock 'n roll movies of the 1950s. Johnny Depp plays Cry-Baby Walker, a 'drape' (or juvenile deliquent) who rocks out with his gang at the local high school and causes trouble for the 'squares' in town. Cry-Baby meets Allison, the goodiest of the goody-two-shoes, and the two start a forbidden romance.

This movie is one of my all-time favourites. It's complete with cheesey musical numbers, both doo-wop and 50s greaser-rock, and Johnny Depp just looking normal. If you ever get tired of his morose, weirdo acting roles, just go back and watch this movie to see him actually look clean and normal.

Cry-Baby is a great parody, and the musical numbers will keep you hooked the whole way through.

Fav Quote:

"Juvenile delinquents are everywhere. Right here in this community. Boys with long hair and tattoos who spit on the sidewalk. Girls who wear tight slacks. Hysterectomy pants, I call them."
