Death Becomes Her: A Classic Review

Random, yes. Loved by those who have seen it, definitely. This is one of my all time favies. My VCR actually ate it because it was so sick of playing it. Seriously. A beloved cult classic, Death Becomes Her was released in 1992 and stars Goldie Hawn, Meryl Streep and Bruce Willis. Granted it’s a dark comedy, but this gem is full of great visual effects for the time (it won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects), and plenty of chuckles.

Helen Sharp (Hawn) is scorned when her would-be husband Dr. Ernest Menville (Willis) leaves her for her long-time rival and struggling, washed-up actress slash Broadway performer Madeline Ashton (Streep). After several years…and pounds, Helen finds the key to eternal youth and beauty via a magic potion. A new and beautiful Helen returns to win back Ernest. What Helen doesn’t realize is that she is not the only one to discover the potion.
