Rags to Riches: A Classic Review

So a gem was handed to us the other night...a gem we never knew existed. We knew Leslie was one of us when she requested a piece on one of our all-time favourites Cry-Baby, so naturally, we trusted her fully when she suggested a movie for us to watch...The gem we speak of is a little movie called Rags to Riches (1986).

The plot in a nutshell: Nick Foley (Joseph Bologna) is a wealthy businessman on the verge of a merger. His public image is somewhat callus and cold so his people decide that adopting six orphaned girls who refuse to separate will warm peoples hearts and speed along the merger. These aren't six ordinary girls though...wherever they are, choreography and song follow! Of course it takes time before the ice around old Bologna's heart thaws, but when it does, it's oh-so-CHEESE!!

We knew we were going to love this movie from the first scene. Our exact words: "Where has this movie been our whole lives?"

Great post. It made me wathc the movie again...much to Mike's dismay. Mr. Foley's singing at the end is so bad it is good. I just found out it continued as a TV series for two seasons....ahh what I would not give to find those on DVD!
