Tantalizing Trivia: The Fantastic Four

Did you know that in 1994, Constantin Film Company produced a complete Fantastic Four movie?

Yes that's right. The film company owned the rights to the Fantastic Four name, but was waiting for the right budget to produce the film. Time was running out and they had to start production of the film, or lose the copyright.

So a $1.98 million budget was alotted for The Fantastic Four, and production began. The poor cast and crew had no idea that this movie was NEVER intended to be released or distributed. It was made to secure the copyright to the production company.

And so, a piece of movie history was made - The Fantastic Four (1994 version). Never seen by the public, except for the wacky comic book fans and movie fanatics (aka Cinema Obsessed).

In 2005, a $40 million budget was approved and the movie we all know as The Fantastic Four was born.

Mostly we feel sorry for the no-name actors in the 1994 version. They thought they were getting a big break, but eventually got the news that their big Hollywood breakthrough was just a ploy by the studio to save the film for a better time. Ouch, that must have stung.

Watch the trailer for the unreleased film below, and try not to pee your pants laughing.
