Sublime Soundtrack: The Nightmare Before Christmas

Oh Tim Burton. How do we love thee? Let us count the ways.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) is a crown jewel in any Tim Burton fan's collection. The DVD sells for no less than $30, over 15 years later! It has become a cult classic, and a favourite amongst kids and adults alike, and has even spawned a weird culture of merchandise.

I personally have a friend who carries around his themed coin purse, in the shape of a coffin, which he lovingly calls his "change casket."

The sumblimeness of this soundtrack is all thanks to Danny Elfman, the musical genius who often collaborates with Burton. I guess weirdos stick together. But that's ok, because it has given us Cin-Obs some of our favourite stuff!

Elfman even provided the SINGING voice for Jack Skellington!

Have a listen. Pay attention to the composition, as well as the lyrics. They're quite unique. (And remember you're listening to Danny Elfman sing)

Jack's Lament

Jack discovers Christmas Town and must express his excitement through song. Naturally. Some more creative lyrics.

What's This?

And finally, the jazziest, catchiest song in the movie (in our humble opinions) comes from the Boogie-Man himself... Mr. Oogie Boogie.
