Harrison Ford was so sick one day on set of Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) that he could barely continue.
Instead of having him perform the drawn out fight scene from the script between him and this sword-wielding crazy man, the cast and crew collectively decided it would be funnier to just let Indiana shoot him.
Realistic AND convenient. Not to mention, bloody hilar.
