Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

Well, all you gamers out there can start trumpetting your horns and throwing confetti... or whatever gamers do when they make movies out of popular games.

Prince of Persia is on the way. And I must say, we have beef with this movie.

Two words - Jake Gyllenhaal.

Seriously? This is the most Persion-looking bad-boy they could get for the role? Come on, Gyllie... you belong in cute movies like October Sky and Bubble Boy... and... well... NOT Prince of Persia. There are some casting options that we CAN'T BELIEVE they passed over for the sake of a bankable name.

Naveen Andrews of tv's Lost? Rodrigo Santoro of 300? Hell, he ALREADY played a Prince of Persia! Both of these boys would suit the part marvellously.

Sir Ben Kingsley will be starring as the baddie of the film, and we're hoping he can save it with his acting chops.

Anyways, the movie is still filming, and will be released May 28, 2010. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing, so at the very least we know it will be a high quality production. Even if we have to pretend Gyllie is masculine and threatening.

And while we're on the subject of video game to movie, where the hell is Donkey Kong?
