Who seduces an angel? Who strips in space? Who conveys love by hand? Who gives up the pill? Who takes sex to outer space? Who's the girl of the 21st century? Who nearly dies of pleasure? The one... the only...BARBARELLA!

As much as we treasured the original bizzaro world of Barbarella (1968), we're not scared of the remake. We think this could be done brilliantly with new special effects and a hot new actress. It would be especially good if they kept it cheesey and light.
The film was originally going to be remade in the 90s, with Drew Barrymore being considered for the babelicious role. The idea was dropped and picked up again in 2007, with Robert Rodriguez on board as director. PERFECT!
Rodriguez has a real-life romance with his Grindhouse (2007) starlet Rose McGowan, and insisted she play Barb. Apparently the studio didn't think she could carry a film with such a huge budget, and the whole project was scrapped. Way to go, idiots. With you two it would have been fantasmaglorious.
Now director Robert Luketic is directing. He certainly has the credentials to bring this beloved sci-fi cult classic back to life, with films under his belt such as Legally Blonde (2001), Monster in Law (2005), and 21(2008). Oooooh GAG. Come back Rodriguez!
As Cin-Obs, we can't help but try to be optimistic that this will all work out, and the new Barbarella will kick arse. We can only hope.
