Splendid Speech: Sydney Poitier

VoilĂ . A moment of Hollywood history. In 1963, Sydney Poitier became the first black man to win an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in Lilies of the Field (1962), in which he played Homer Smith, a handyman who helps a group of German nuns with various chores, mainly building a chapel.
