Amelia

Well, Hilary Swank can probably prepare for Oscar number three. This is just the type of film that wins people awards. Biopics tend to do that. Especially tragic ones.

The film will obviously be about Amelia Earhart's rise to fame in the aviation world, and her troubled marriage to George Putnam, explorer and author. George will be played by Richard Gere. Ooooh we smell Best Supporting Actor for you, Rich!

Ewan McGregor, a favie of ours, will play Gene Vidal, a man who had a passionate affair with Earhart. Jealous!

Much of the movie was filmed in Canada, which makes us patriotically giddy.

The only problem with watching a biopic about someone with such a famous story is that there's no surprise ending to be had.

Like Titanic, we all knew it was goin' down. So they'll have to make Amelia extra interesting to keep our focus until the end... since we know she's eventually gonna take off... and not come back.

Amelia flies into theatres October 23, 2009.
