Invictus - A Nelson Mandela Biopic

Clint Eastwood is directing this new project, that will star Morgan Freeman as a younger Mandela, during the time of the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa.


Matt Damon stars as Francois Pienaar, the South African team captain.

The story follows the fall of the apartheid, Mandela's election to the presidency, and the way he tried to use the World Cup to bring his people together.

We smell an Oscar here... for Clint, Morgan, and even possibly Damon in a supporting role. This has Academy written all over it!

Coming to theatres December 11, 2009.
