The Lovely Bones

Peter Jackson's newest film is The Lovely Bones, which comes from a 2002 book of the same name.

Although we hate movies that tug tug tug on the heart strings and do nothing but make you feel like caca with tears, we can acknowledge a deep, moving story when we see one.

A young girl is murdered, and the story follows her family as they grieve their loss, and as her father seeks justice and revenge on her murder.

Oh yeah, and the little girl watches and tries to interact with her loved ones from heaven. Beautifullz.

Saoirse Ronan, the brillz little actress from City of Ember (2008), stars as the recently deceased Susie. Her parents are played by Marky Mark Wahlberg and Rachel "I'm too good for The Mummy 3" Weisz. Susan "Damnit Janet" Sarandon is the grandmother, and the amazing Stanley Tucci is the baddie neighbour.

This concept is veeerrryy familiar. Anyone see What Dreams May Come (1998) with Robin Williams? Amazing story about a man who dies and goes to his own personal version of heaven, which is actually a painting his wife painted. She then commits suicide and he goes on a journey to hell to rescue her. It got some bad reviews, but we thought it was great. It was probably the last time we saw Cuba Gooding Jr do any decent acting.

Since then, he should be credited as Cuba Badding Jr. Haha oh god, I crack myself up.

How did I get so off topic? Whatever, The Lovely Bones will probably get awards and crap, as it's coming out for awards season. Do I smell an Oscar for Marky Mark?

No wait, I need a shower.

Anyways, bring tissues for The Lovely Bones, in theatres December 11, 2009.
