Tantalizing Trivia: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

One of the most memorable jokes in Monty Python and the Holy Grail was the knights galloping around on foot and making clip-clop sounds with two coconut halves.

Although fans have always seen this joke as part of the troupe's quirky sense of humour, it was actually done because the budget for the film was drastically cut right before filming. They also didn't have the time or money to teach the actors how to ride horses. These circumstances lead to the best running gag in the whole movie.

I learned something new today!
I'm amazed that they originally did want to give them horses. I see they still had money to produce the tutorial video on how to make the coconuts though.
