Tantalizing Trivia: The Village

The Village (2004) was initially given an R rating... all because of ONE sound effect.

In the original cut of the film, there was a nasty sound effect when Noah stabs Lucius. The MPAA thought it was too gory, and once the sound was removed, the film earned its final PG13 rating. The entire cast and crew agreed the scene was much more intense without the sound.

They also removed audio of Joaquin Pheonix's character screaming "MAMA NOOOOO!"

Jokes jokes...
