Quotable Quote: Stir Of Echoes

Red Lights: De Niro is Going to Look into his Crystal Ball

Centers on a psychologist, and her assistant, whose study of paranormal activity leads them to investigate a world-renowned psychic. IMDB

Ohhhh boooooya! Paranormal activity + psychics = shiz we can't get enough of. All we got from IMDB is this one liner, but that's really all we need.

This upcoming thriller directed by Rodgrigo Cortes, will star Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy, Elizabeth Olsen. Not bad, not bad. De Niro will  be playing the psychic in question and Sigourney Weaver will play the psychologist investigating his questionable ass. Good, right? We know.

I really can't see how this can go wrong. It sounds like it'll be a good psychological thriller that may have some freaky moments. And if not, who cares - if we just get one shot of De Niro gazing into a crystal ball or flippin' some Tarot cards, we're gold.

Apollo 18 - New Moon Movie Confirms That I Do Not Want To Be An Astronaut

Oh me oh my, this one looks goooood!

We really loved Moon (2009) so we're totally up for another lunar escapade. This one, instead of being futuristic, takes place long ago during the Apollo missions. The tagline tells us there's a reason we didn't go back to the moon, and states that the movie will show you why, with recently discovered footage from the mysterious Apollo 18 mission that NASA cancelled, and that conspiracy theorists (I love them) claim went on as planned.

Another thing y'all know we love is the first-person perspective style, and this one seems to capture the action from the perspective of the astronauts themselves, with their handheld cameras and cams inside the lunar lander. It's advertised as "found footage." Ooooh like Blair Witch, or Cloverfield. But question - how do you find footage of a disaster that happened on the moon? Irrelevant.

There seems to be something lurking on the moon and messing with them, and I don't quite know how I feel about that. The general public is beyond the hokey 60s 'moon men' mentality, and we all know the moon is dead, with nothing currently living there. So where will they go with this? Will there be some scary-ass alien who is visiting? Who beat us there and is pissed that mankind has also landed? Then had the balls to plant a flag and go "MINE!"

Either way it seems like it'll be a great psychological thriller, and I'm sure we'll squirm many times with claustrophobia. Good fun. For some reason the actors aren't listed anywhere, which could be because nobody knows them, or it could be part of the marketing of the film, pimping these guys out as real astronauts. Regardless, not knowing them works to the movie's benefit, as most people can't name more than two real astronauts.
Trailer! What do you think?

The Galapagos Affair: A Sexual Thriller That May or May Not Involve People Eating Each Other... Wink Wink.

There is nothing like a good psychological thriller. A sexual thriller though? Bring it on baby! Not much info yet on The Galapagos Affair, but here's what we found:

Based on the true story of five people who escape to paradise before WW2. A tense sexual thriller, when finally rescued, only one has survived. IMDB

Javier Bardem, Juliette Binoche and Kristin Scott Thomas will all star in this upcoming drama/thriller. The synopsis leaves tons to the imagination. Are they lost? Stranded? Shipwrecked? Do they resort to cannibalism? Are they voting each other off the island, Survivor-style?

I have decided that I don't give a schnoon. I will watch anything with Javier Bardem. He's sexy, he's Spanish and he's sooo 'in' right now. Oh, plus he can act. Can't wait!

The Hit List: Cuba Gooding Jr. Goes Badasss!

We're used to seeing Cuba Gooding Jr. in fairly light roles. Don't you wish you could watch him play a total psycho/serial killer? So do we. Here it is:

Allan Campbell (Cole Hauser), a man who has had a very bad day, goes to a bar to drown his sorrows. He drunkenly befriends a mysterious man who calls himself Jonas (Cuba Gooding Jr.), revealing to him a list of five people he wishes were dead.

But as the bodies start piling up, and with a detective (Jonathon LaPaglia) hot on his trail, Allan, no longer believing the events to be a practical joke, must set out to end the murders before its too late. Wikipedia

Oooooweeee! We have a thing for serial killers. Not in real life, in pretend-world where it's ok to sympathize with the Dexter-types. It don't sound like Cuba will be killing for the good of the world, but regardless, we're excited to see him in this role.

Criminal Empire for Dummies... Cin-Obs Prepare for a Lesson in Crime!

A charismatic young man offers eleven easy lessons on how to start your own criminal empire from scratch. IMDB

OOohh la la! I like the sound of this one. Charismatic young men + criminal activity = Awesome! Ok, but seriously, I am truly hoping this flick is in the style of Two Can Play That Game (2001). Vivica Fox talks to the audience the entire time, giving step by step instructions on how to test and keep your man (who you suspect might be creepin').

Gary Oldman, Malin Akerman, Milo Ventimiglia (Rocky Balboa jr.), Michael Clarke Duncan (atta boy), and Harvey Keitel will all star in this upcoming crime-drama-comedy (?)... Good cast, right? And if we're goin' gansta/criminal, who better than Harvey Keitel to star? Which begs the question - where the hell is Ray Liotta?

No trailers, and not a whole lotta promo stuff out there, but rest assured, we will keep you posted!

Thoughts? Anyone else excited to learn how to build your own criminal empire?

Vanishing on 7th Street - Not for those already afraid of the dark

Oh no Angie. I dont' think you'll be able to handle this movie, ya big scaredy-pants! Just kiddin'... you're gonna love this and we'll fo sho be catching this one in theaters. Synopsis:

In the film, when a massive power outage plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, a disparate group of individuals (Christensen, Leguizamo, Newton) find themselves alone. The entire city's population has vanished into thin air, leaving behind heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. Soon the daylight begins to disappear completely, and as the survivors gather in an abandoned tavern, they realize the darkness is out to get them, and only their rapidly diminishing light sources can keep them safe. themovieinsider

This upcoming boasts a pretty decent cast with Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton and John Leguizamo all starring. We love the premise, love us some Hayden and Leguizamo and love that we don't have to wait long for this movie to hit the big screen!

Look out for this thriller February 2011.

Tasty Tagline: Chloe

If the one you love was lying to you, how far would you go to find out the truth?

Memorable Monologue: Taken

"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."

Delightful Dialogue: From Hell

Masonic Governor: You stand before your peers, masons and doctors both.

Sir William Gull: I have no peers present here.

Masonic Governor: What?

Sir William Gull: No man amongst you is fit to judge... the mighty art that I have wrought. Your rituals are empty oaths you neither understand nor live by. The Great Architect speaks to me. He is the balance where my deeds are weighed and judged... not you.

Memorable Monologue: War of the Worlds

"From the moment the invaders arrived, breathed our air, ate and drank, they were doomed. They were undone, destroyed, after all of man's weapons and devices had failed, by the tiniest creatures that God in his wisdom put upon this earth. By the toll of a billion deaths, man had earned his immunity, his right to survive among this planet's infinite organisms. And that right is ours against all challenges. For neither do men live nor die in vain."

Memorable Monologue: Pontypool

"Mrs. French's cat is missing. The signs are posted all over town. 'Have you seen Honey?' We've all seen the posters, but nobody has seen Honey the cat. Nobody. Until last Thursday morning, when Miss Colette Piscine swerved her car to miss Honey the cat as she drove across a bridge. Well this bridge, now slightly damaged, is a bit of a local treasure and even has its own fancy name; Pont de Flaque. Now Collette, that sounds like Culotte. That's Panty in French. And Piscine means Pool. Panty pool. Flaque also means pool in French, so Colete Piscine, in French Panty Pool, drives over the Pont de Flaque, the Pont de Pool if you will, to avoid hitting Mrs. French's cat that has been missing in Pontypool. Pontypool. Pontypool. Panty pool. Pont de Flaque. What does it mean? Well, Norman Mailer, he had an interesting theory that he used to explain the strange coincidences in the aftermath of the JFK assasination. In the wake of huge events, after them and before them, physical details they spasm for a moment; they sort of unlock and when they come back into focus they suddenly coincide in a weird way. Street names and birthdates and middle names, all kind of superfluous things appear related to eachother. It's a ripple effect. So, what does it mean? Well... it means something's going to happen. Something big. But then, something's always about to happen."

~ Stephen McHattie as Grant Mazzy in Pontypool (2008)

Delightful Dialogue: Signs

Graham Hess: Come on, now, you're too old to be doing this. You get a glass of water, and leave it lying around instead of finishing it. Now what's wrong with this one?

Bo: It has dust in it.

Graham Hess: And this one?

Bo: A hair.

Graham Hess: And this one?

Bo: Morgan took a sip and it's got his amoebas in it.

The Resident: A Movie to Frighten 'Single White Females' Everywhere

I'm always game for a psychological thriller. Some of my favies include: The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), A Perfect Murder (1998), and Crush (1993). I'm due for another goodie. And I do believe Ms. Hilary Swank will deliver in the lead.

Every year, three million single women in America move into an apartment for the first time. They do not know who lived in the apartment before them, they do not know their landlords, and they don’t bother to change the locks. This is the story of one such woman…

After separating from her husband, pretty young doctor Juliet Dermer moves to Brooklyn, settling into a new life in a stunning and spacious loft apartment that seems too good to be true. It is...

Mysterious occurrences lead her to suspect that she is not alone in her home and quickly her fears become all too real. In a chilling revelation, she discovers that her seemingly charming, young landlord, Max, has developed a dangerous obsession with her. A terrifying game of cat and mouse ensues as Juliet fights to free herself from Max’s sinister intentions. Wikipedia

Whoa. Long enough descripsh. But it sounds oh-so-good! Although I do have fears that this will make me officially scared of everything. Already on the list (thanks to movies) are attics, basements, closets, vhs tapes, the list goes on. So let's add generic apartments and landlords to the list.

Delightful Dialogue: The Stepford Wives

Walter Kresby: First of all we are in the country now, so no more black.

Joanna Eberhart: No more black? Are you insane?

Walter Kresby: You heard me. Only high-powered, neurotic, castrating, Manhattan career bitches wear black. Is that what you want to be?

Joanna Eberhart: Ever since I was a little girl.
