Sign the DROP DEAD FRED Petition!

Listen up, y'all. We've talked enough about this movie that you should know by now it's one of our favies. And from posting about it, we've learned you guys remember it and adored it as much as we did!

Now it's time to take action. As you ALSO know, we're avid bargain hunters, discount bin crashers, and thrift store maniacs. We'll do anything to find movie memorabilia, and well.. movies! We've even been known to shell out the dough for a VHS once in a while, if it's really worth it.

Drop Dead Fred... you elusive bastard. You're the gem we're always hoping to find. And it just... never... happens. And it never will. When the film was released on DVD (in limited numbers) in 2003, it was eagerly snatched up by movie buffs, since the film had developed a cult following. And the cult members are NOT letting this one go. Ebay sells it, mostly VHS and region 2 DVD, so it's useless to us North Americans. If you're lucky enough to find a region 1, it sells for over 50 dollars.

So our proposition is this. We're starting a petition and we want some support. We're gonna collect votes/names/signatures/comments as long as possible. And when the list is long enough, we're gonna let New Line Cinema know that they need to reprint the DVD.

A button is going up in the right-hand column so you can always click to check on the progress of this noble cause. And tell your movie lovin' friends!

Leave a comment, just your name, a smiley face, the word yes, some gibberish, anything as a sign of your support! If you loved this movie and it meant something to you as a child, or whenever, like it did for us, JOIN THE CAUSE!

CIN-OBS FOR THE RE-PRINTING OF DROP DEAD FRED ON DVD!

Oh my gosh I just looked at Amazon, and you're right! Used ones are even going for about 30 bucks. It definitely definitely needs to be sold again. Cute movie! Brings back childhood memories. *nostalgic sigh*

I cannot believe it's so much or difficult to find. My mom picked it up in a bargain bin a few years ago for five dollars. I've watched it about 100 times since.......can't believe it's so difficult to attain now!

Maybe you should just play burglars and steal someones.........teehee

Heather - a bargain bin? OMG we're so jealous. We're always scouring the bins and hoping to find it, but we never have any luck. If they don't re-release the DVD soon, I'm taking your suggestion and burgling someone. With the coming release of the remake, we're hoping they make the orig available again!

I watch it on youtube all the time!!

Fred's Girl - we've seen it on YouTube as well, but it's just not the same! This is more about the collecting aspect of the DVD. So hard to find! Impossible actually! Unless you have an Australian DVD player.

I hate this stupid movie, but one of my wife's friends appears in one scene as an extra...but she is cut out in the lousy, overpriced full screen DVDs and VHS. For the sake of all those framed out extras, I wholeheartedly support that "Drop Dead Fred," along with EVERY OTHER movie, be available on DVD, if not BlurayDisc, too, in a format that preserves the aspect ratio of its original presentation.
