Monopoly: The Movie

Wowza. They just HAD to go there.

Comingsoon.net is reporting on the new board game film adaptation. Sheesh, never thought I'd say that.

Ridley Scott, the brain behind this new film, told Comingsoon.net:

"It's a Hasbro film and they have the game. That was a tough thing to crack in terms of the screenplay because first off, many would want to integrate literally the shaking of the dice and the throwing of the dice into the board. I couldn't really get past that. I wanted to just make a movie about the idea of greed. I told them you know your game can turn your sweetest, dearest aunt into a demon - a nightmare of greed. So that's what we're going to do."

It could be an interesting adaptation, but if it's just a story about greed, wealth, accumulating properties, etc, wouldn't it just turn into another Wall Street?

I'm very curious to see how this turns out, and I can't wait to get some visuals. All I know is they had BETTER incorporate the Monopoly Guy. What would this movie be without him? Crap, that's what.

Apparently an early outline of the plot involved some down-on-his-luck guy with a Monopoly obsession, and after a stressful tournament, he finds himself living inside the game. Jumanji much? Regardless, the story has probably changed drastically since the beginning stages.

This gets me thinking of other games I'd like to see on the big screen:

Snakes and Ladders: Climb to the heights of ecstacy, or plummet to your death in this epic winding journey.

Twister: Four lovers weave a tangled web of lies as they get more intimate than expected during an alcohol-fueled dinner party.

Scrabble: An ambitious mother forces her bright young daughter into a spelling competition that threatens to push their relationship to the breaking point.

You're welcome, Hollywood.

Do you guys have any other game-inspired movie ideas?

Candyland ~ need I say more??? "}

Perfection ~ you have a certain amount of time, before you pop up into the air {or for movies sake, cyber shoot, time travel, etc}, and land in some one elses scene, or moment in life....or something like that.

Your Shoots & Ladders idea reminds me of an episode of Robot Chicken I watched a few days ago. Lol. You should look for it on YouTube. Seriously. I think you'd enjoy it. :)

I think a great board game to make into a movie would be Operation!

Synopsis:
A bunch of teens go on a boat cruise and end up stranded on an island where a psychotic doctor performs experiments on people. The doctor makes them operate on other island habitants otherwise he'll experiments on them. If they pull out the wrong organ, they die of electrocution! LOL

I have a vivid imagination.
