Robin Williams in The Prince of Providence

Dear Robin Williams,

I have been watching you since I was a wee child. You have made me laugh, made me cry and made me wonder what in the hell you are smoking. You can ramble on tangents like no one can in the most hilarious and often incomprehensible manner.

Mr. Williams, I have to tell you that I love you in comedic roles. But since World's Greatest Dad (2009) ended up being World's Greatest Stinking Pile 'o Shite, I implore you... please take care when choosing your gigs. You are travelling down a very dangerous path. I will watch The Prince of Providence (2011) because I believe you are a fantastic dramatic actor. Hello - Patch Adams (1998)? What Dreams May Come (1997)? Awakenings (1990)? Helllllllzzzz to the YES. While I hear you will not play the main character, I do believe you will shine in this movie.

Thank you for everything you have done... (except for Death to Smoochy, RV and License to Wed. WTF were you thinking?)

Sincerely,
Chantale
Cin-Ob Supreme

Rock Star. Celebrity. Politician. Vincent A. "Buddy" Cianci, former mayor of Providence was all three. If Mick Jagger was the first rock star, then Keith Richards defined what it meant to be one. For 21 years and two non-consecutive terms Buddy Cianci was that definitive rock star of politics, presiding over the longest-running lounge act in the American circuit. A brilliant legal and political mind, Buddy was a cultural outsider who conquered 34 years of democratic rule and took Providence by force. But, as with every success story, there is always a dark side and Buddy's dark side was darker than most. The Buddy Cianci story isn't merely the story of the rise and fall of a man, but the rise and fall of a man who rose again, only to fall faster and further than even he could imagine. IMDB

While you're recalling piles 'o' shite Robin Williams films, let us not forget "One Hour Photo," which was supposed to be dark and indie but which actually was just dumb and pointless.

The premise was good, at least I thought so... but poorly excecuted. The wall of family photos was efffing creeeeepy!!

OH NO!!! I thought Greatest Dad was pretty good, actually! Interesting dark comedy. Yes, RV may have been a waste as well as License to Wed. Old Dogs was dumb as hell, but funny. He is still one of our best actors, I believe. And One Hour Photo was a great film, btw. A great exploration of the character. I love the letter here, very funny. I should write the same kind for DeNiro and Walken who have done nothing for over 10 years....

World's Greatest Dad was fantastic! You need to watch it as if you have a child.... The child might be the worst human being in the whole entire world, but the child is yours.... You helped him take his first steps, heard his first word, taught him how to ride a bike....

He ran to you with arms wide open saying 'Daddy, I love you!'

Then he turns into a d-bag....

Do you turn your back on him?

I thought the movie was really well done.... I thought Robin was great!

However, Old Dogs may have been the worst movie I have ever seen.
