Russell Brand is Arthur

Russell's become a favie in our household. He can portray a douchebag like no one can. For this, we love him. Russ is set to star in Arthur, another remake coming in 2011. So far, the cast is lookin' real good with names like Jennifer Garner, Helen Mirren, Nick Nolte and Greta Gerwig.

Russell Brand stars as a very rich, happy drunk who is told by his mother that he must marry the wealthy girl of her choosing or else lose his inheritance. Helen Mirren is the drunken billionaire’s valet and confidante, while Greta Gerwig has signed on to play the primary love interest. Collider.com

The original Arthur was played by Dudley Moore, waaaay back in 1981. Liza Minnelli also starred in the flick (long before she lost her marbles)... which makes us wanna check out the orig real bad!

Russell hasn't disappointed us yet and we're sure Arthur will be another success for the brilliant comedian! Plus we have these really bizarre crushes on him. Is that weird? Ladies, do any of you feel a weird attraction?

I thought Russel Grand was hilarious in Get him to the Greek but seriously they need to leave the original Arthur alone. I think he might over-do it too much. I think I'm like the one girl alive who doesn't have a crush on Russel grand too. lol

This just ruined my day. Arthur is one of my Top 5 favorite comedies of all time (I just posted that on my Magic Lantern Film blog last week) and to remake it is a travesty. To remake it starring a one-note actor (albeit funny in Sarah Marshall) is disgraceful. Another Hollywood remake we don't need (see: Karate Kid, et al) and shows the industry's complete lack of originality. Poor Dudley Moore...

I agree with Mel and Peter...this is is a horrible concept. The original is easily in my top 3 comedies (after Where The Buffalo Roam and Heathers). I never ever have tired of watching that movie and DO NOT want to see some whack-job like RB ruin it. Not that I would ever see it of course, but just knowing it was out there would make DM roll over in his whiskey-soaked coffin...ahahahahaha!

Bastards!
