Memorable Monologue: Titanic

"I got everything I need right here with me. I got air in my lungs, a few blank sheets of paper. I mean, I love waking up in the morning not knowing what's gonna happen or who I'm gonna meet, where I'm gonna wind up. Just the other night I was sleeping under a bridge and now here I am on the grandest ship in the world having champagne with you fine people. I figure life's a gift and I don't intend on wasting it. You don't know what hand you're gonna get dealt next. You learn to take life as it comes at you... to make each day count."

~ Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson in Titanic (1997)

A great little monolouge, it's just too bad, it had to be DiCaprio who said it....

Actually, Pat, I respectfully disagree: I think it's a cheesy little monologue, and it's LEO who deserved better. I continue to stand by him, especially now that he's got a meat on his bones. Sure, he's a looker, but what's more important than that is that the boy can act.

No problem, you can disagree respectfully, or otherwise...

I'd phrase that as now that he "finally" has some meat on his bones. Until his more recent films, I always thought he was the weak link in all his movies (except "what's eating gilbert grape?). I'm amazed that anybody doesn't agree that the movie (Titanic) was amazingly bigger than he was.

We've always liked him, but we were 11 and 13 years old watching his early movies, so our Cin-Ob tastes hadn't developed enough to care about his skills. But we can say with total confidence that he's a strong actor these days!

Love Titanic! I've loved several of his movies... Gilbert Grape, Blood Diamond, The Beach... just to name a few.

i was just hoping he would use the line " learn to take life as it comes at you... live each day as if it's your last". You know add that extra kick of irony!
