Actors Who Are Movin' On Up

Our newest Cin-Ob Supreme, Hal, has suggested this amazing idea for his post of choice! He wanted to see something about unknown / less successful actors with potential for future stardom, and well... you got it HAL! At least, this is our opinion about who's got the potential... open for discussion as usual!

Hal's example was Joseph Gordon Levitt, and boy oh boy, we couldn't agree more. Exploding back onto the Hollywood scene with roles in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, (500) Days of Summer, and of course Inception, JGL is earning himself some serious acting cred. He disappeared for a long time, and was probably blown off by most as a child/teen actor who had faded into oblivion. Obviously we were fans from the start with the tv show Third Rock From The Sun, and of course 10 Things I Hate About You - the quintessential teen film (of our generation at least). This kid always had the chops as a leading man, but it's only recently that he's been getting the mainstream respect he always deserved. He's also rumoured to be playing The Riddler in the new Batman film, which as Heath Ledger showed us, is a role that can earn you major Hollywood brownie points. Bottom line - he's on his way to A-List, if he's not already there.

Chris Pine - previously dismissed as a non-serious fluff-film actor in stuff like Just My Luck, and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Chris showed us who was boss in the new Star Trek film, and proved that he was worthy of blockbuster leading-man status. He's got many projects comin' down the pipeline (including at least 1 Trek sequel), and we truly believe his portrayal of James T. Kirk opened lots of doors, and will continue to do so. Also, he's super hot. Sorry, had to add that in.

Sam Worthington  - I'm including him in this post based on objective information... but really, I don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I freakin' loved  Avatar (especially Jakey's avatar), but I'm just not sure about S-Worth's acting chops. Clash of the Titans was 106 minutes of stone-faced Sam desperately trying to seem as though he had a personality. Entertaining flick, but that's all. Sam burst onto the scene with Terminator Salvation, then James Cameron's uber-succesful movie (Sam's signed on for all planned sequels), and then Titans (as well as the upcoming sequel). It seems, for whatever reason, people can't get enough of him. He's got 9 titles in development on IMDB, so I'd say his career doesn't show any signs of slowing. So for those reasons, I'd say Sam Worthington is on his way up.

Honourable Mentions:

Chris Evans
Josh Hutcherson
Ben Foster

Sweeet. Thanks again!

And great call on Ben Foster, I seriously think the only thing holding him back from stardom is himself (he seem to be the type of guy that shies away from the limelight and big roles 'Hollywood' films)

I just bought 500 Days of Summer and I loved it. He is really becoming an actor who will do great. Here's hoping we see more of him.

I think there will be increased sales of Third Rock From The Sun with Gordon Levitt continuing his ascent up the Hollywood elite list. I like the guy. Good actor.
