Striking Similarity: Mike Starr as Acid Reflux Guy...

I've been afraid to post this Striking Similarity because it demonstrates just how SICK I am. For realz.

Meet Mike Starr. I only know him in 2 very specific roles. The first is Crocker, the mover from Funny Farm (1988). A minor role, but memorable nonetheless. The second is as Joe Mentalino in Dumb and Dumber (1994).

Here's the thing about Mike. I think he might be a victim of typecasting. In both movies we see Mike as this very rough-around-the-edges-character. But here's the crazy part. In both movies we see Mike poppin' Rolaids/Tums/misc. indegestion pills. Just wanna point out too that Mike seems to always be poppin' pills in vehicles. What in the effers is up with that?!

I don't know what's worse, Mike being so specifically typecast, or me noticing something like this. Was the casting agent for Dumb and Dumber like: "OMG I totally know the perfect rough-around-the-edges person who is great at popping large amounts of pills when his character is under stress and seems to be suffering from indegestion!"...

Weeiiiiird. Check out Mike in Funny Farm (5:00 mark for pill-poppin') and in Dumb and Dumber (last 10 seconds to watch him munch the capsules).

I lurve Mike Starr because of a scene in The Bodyguard. Starr silently decides to try a little bit of Mr. Costner on, they have a completely wordless fight and then Costner says, "I don't want to have this conversation again."
