Well, I guess I'm not that surprised. If it ain't broke, drive it into the ground as hard as you can for a whole lotta money. Madagascar and Madagascar: Escape to Africa weren't enough - apparently the franchise has more stories to tell. Same shenanigans, different pile... Ok that didn't work, but you get the point.

What can I say? The first two installments were super duper cute and the third will be nothing less. I do enjoy the concept of all these zany characters in the circus.

Predictions: Alex becomes the ringmaster, Gloria will perform as the bearded lady, Marty will be an acrobat or stilt-walker and Melman will take on the role of elephant shit-shoveller. Yes? I think so.

Puss in Boots Teaser!

We love a good spin-off... hell - we love a BAD spinoff. We'll take anything we can get really. And hey, this is also like a prequel, showing us the events that led up to Puss' meeting with Shrek and friends. It needs a new category. I shall call it... a spiquel.

Anyways, Puss in Boots is coming November 4, 2011, and it's gonna be in 3D. If a sidekick ever deserved his own movie, it's Puss. We can all admit that he was the most charming, most adorable character of the Shrek franchise. Can't we? Oh wait, let's not forget Gingie. But he couldn't carry his own movie, if only becaues that helium-voice would get annoying after 10 minutes.

Striking Similarity: Tim Allen, Spaceman

In Toy Story (1995), Tim Allen voices Buzz Lightyear, a Space Ranger. During the film, he hitches a ride with a pizza delivery truck, notably a Toyota.

In Galaxy Quest (1999) Tim Allen plays Jason Nesmith, an actor who once portrayed a spaceship captain. While planning a gig to visit fans, Nesmith demands a limousine, saying "The last time I did one of these gigs, they shoved me in the back of a Toyota."

Coincidence? I think not. Ok, maybe I'm sick, but you can't help but watch Galaxy Quest and think this might be a reference to his role as Buzz. No? Not so obvious? Whatever, I'm a winner and I know it.

Charismatic Character: Ichabod Crane

We featured Ichabod Crane as a Charismatic Character a long time ago, but since All Hallow's Eve is upon us (mua ha ha ha!), we figured it's time for a redo.

This movie freaked us RIGHT out as kids. The creepy whistling, Bram's scary story/song, the dark forest, the bridge, the scary cackling laughter... *shudder* ughhhghhh it just makes me feel weird, even now.

Also, how can you go wrong with Bing Crosby as the narrator? If you've never seen this classic family friendly Halloween flick, check it out. I promise, even as an adult, you'll be a wee bit spooked.

Ichabod is a ladies man (somehow) and a massive glutton. He's a lanky, awkward, cowardly, dorky school-teacher that you'll love from the first moment you see him. As much as we loved Johnny Depp's 1999 portrayal of this character, this animated one is the real OG.

Are they shovels or are they feet? We say they're more like massive canoes.

Time Travelling Turkeys? We're In!

In honour of Thanksgiving (which we've just finished celebrating a.k.a. stuffing our faces until we went into food comas) and with the Americans preparing for their Thanksgiving in November, I give you Turkeys (2011). We're sure you'll gobble up this animated, family-friendly flick! (Ok, that was stupid. And it didn't even make sense. Forgive me?)...

Here's a little synopsis:

A couple of turkeys travel back in time to the first Thanksgiving dinner in order to save future generations of their feathered friends from getting gobbled up at holiday meals. IMDB

I love this concept! It sounds cute, good names (including Owen AND Luke Wilson, Woody Harrelson) and possibly quite funny. Now, this ain't a Disney/Pixar production... not even close. So who knows what the production value will look like, but I still have faith!

Tantalizing Trivia: Finding Nemo

Shortly after this Pixar film was released, a statement was released by a waste management manufacturing company, urging kids not to set their pet fish free by sending them down the drain or flushin' 'em down the toilet.

The spokesman explained that while 'all drains do lead to the sea', the water must first pass through a series of machinery that will ultimately obliterate the fish. He went on record as saying that in the real world the story would be called 'Grinding Nemo'.

Oh those waste management machinery manufacterer spokesmen are tooo funny! I guess you gotta have a sense of humour with such a 'shitty' job. Teehee...
