The Box

Cameron Diaz stars in the new film called The Box.

No, no, it's not like that you perverts. It's a horror flick, based on a popular short story. James Marsden stars as her hubby.

The film is about a family, struggling to get by, who receive an ominous gift - a box with a button inside.

A mysterious man informs them of the powers of the box. By pushing the button inside, they will be faced with two consequences. A stranger somewhere will be killed, and they will receive one million dollars.

Spooky! We haven't read the story so we don't know, but we're assuming the couple will toy with the idea of pushing the button, weighing out the pros and cons. We bet things get dark when they finally make their decision. And maybe a second time... and a third.

We enjoy this concept muchly. We also like Cameron in dark roles (eg Being John Malkovich 1999), in which she doesn't have to shake her booty.

Catch this movie in theatres just in time for Halloween, October 30, 2009.
(Update - release pushed back to November 6, 2009!)

I'm really hoping that regardless of how dark the role is, that there is still booty shaking. In retrospect it's probably a much easier way for her to make a million dollars.

Saw the trailer for this today for the first time and must say I'm intrigued. I just hope it is more Donnie Darko than Southland Tales.
