The Green Lantern

Well, well, well... Comic book fans everywhere can start pulling out their issues of Green Lantern from their hyperbaric chambers full of catalogued, unopened, mint condition comics, in their mother's basement.

It's time to refresh your knowledge, because The Green Lantern is coming to the big screen. It was only a matter of time before someone cashed in on that concept.

It has just been announced that Ryan Reynolds has beaten out the competition for the role (competition like Justin Timberlake, Bradley Cooper, and Jared Leto... we see why Reynolds won).

We think he'll make a great superhero. We know darn well how buff he can be from his role as Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity (2004) and we've also seen how he weaves in his comedic style with an action role. Not to mention we have a patriotic soft-spot for this Canadian-born stud.

The film will be released by Warner Bros sometime in 2011. Get your capes, decoder rings, and x-ray-vision goggles ready, comic fans!

(Just kidding, we love superhero movies to a sick degree as well.)
