Straw Dogs

Straw Dogs (1971) is being remade. James Marsden is set to take on the role that Dustin Hoffman made famous way back when.

The film was originally criticized for being overly violent, but nonetheless it was considered one of director Sam Peckinpah's greatest films.

The film is a thriller, and centres around a young couple whose home is invaded by their farmworkers. Rod Lurie (The Last Castle, 2001) will be directing.

We think this is the role that will skyrocket James Marsden to serious Hollywood stardom. Granted, he's pretty much already there, but we have to get images like Cyclops and Enchanted out of our heads before we can see him as Oscar material. But this might be his chance.

The film is scheduled for release on August 13, 2010.
