Wet Hot American Summer. Oh Lord in heaven... there are not enough words to describe the hilarity of this 2001 film. Listen up fellow Cin-Obs (you have all been officially dubbed as CINema OBSessed groupies)... this is a phenomenal cult classic!Where to begin. Let us start by name dropping. Expect to see some of your favies (we're assuming our favies are also your favies) , the likes of whom include: Paul Rudd, Janeane Garofalo, Ken Marino, Amy Poehler, Elizabeth Banks - a new fave of ours because she just gets it), and Joe Lo Truglio.
P.S. Lo Truglio is Kuzzik in Role Models (2008) RUB-A-DUB-DUB!
The year is 1981. Camp Firewood is beginning their last day of camp. Cue 70s soft rock music. We follow the campers and their inept counsellors as the season winds down and the crew prepare for the big talent show! Genius sub-plots include the 'indoor' kids banding together to stop a piece of Skylab hurtling towards the earth's atmosphere with an expected target of... dah dum duuuuum - Camp Firewood! Then there's Gerald 'Coop' Cooperberg's quest to win Katie's heart. And Gene... poor Gene who works the cafeteria. Gene was in Vietnam and he won't let you forget it.
We guarantee L-O-L-ing. Or your money back. Call now and we'll throw in a LMAO and ROTFL absolutely free! Ahem... sorry, I got carried away. Back to Wet Hotness.
Michael Showalter, who co-wrote the screenplay and who also stars as 'Coop' was a CinemaObsessed find. A real treasure. We will probably love everything this man writes from now on and we'll definitely revisit his older work!
Moral of the story: Watch Wet Hot American Summer. Do some L-O-L-ing and then get your arse back here to share your commentary.
