Jim Carrey in Where's Waldo?

I guess the studios weren't listening when we nominated McLovin for the role of Waldo.

The Where's Waldo? movie is coming sometime in 2013 and the internetmajigger tells us Jim Carrey is now attached to the project to play the main white and red man himself. This could be a great choice, since we know he's a silly wacky dude, but - no offense Jim - we thought Waldo would be younger.

We've said it before and we'll say it again - we have high hopes for this movie, and we pray it's not too Disneyfied. Universal is backing the film, so it might be middle of the road - PG13 or so.

We want an adult spin on Waldo. We want Waldo as a fish out of water, come to life out of the book with that evil Wizard coming after him, or there's some world-wide search for him with a monetary reward for his capture. Or something. (There was an evil wizard in the book wasn't there? No? Damn.)

What do you guys think of this casting? Do you think someone else might do it better?

Also, I tagged this post with book-to-movie. That counts right?

Now enjoy this hilarious parody trailer of The Waldo Ultimatum.

I like Jim Carrey, but I just don't want him as Waldo.
I DO want to see the movie.
My son, Blu, is a big fan of the books.

I actually think this whole idea is all-around awful. I'm sick of seeing Hollywood taking things from books and games and other movies and making crappy movies out of them. :(

Mel, us too, for sure!

Kelly Ann - we loved those books as kids. We were even obsessed with the rip off ones that weren't as good :)

Christina - you definitely raise a valid argument.
