Noah's Ark: The Beginning

I'm always game for animated, family-friendly fun! When I read about this upcoming, I wasn't sure what to make of it. Lots of great names voicing sure-to-be-adorable and funny animals. Hmmmm... here's a little info:

Noah's Ark: The New Beginning is an upcoming animated film featuring an ensemble voice cast. It is a retelling of the Biblical story of Noah's Ark, told from the point of view of the animals on the ark, and is the second in the Promenade Pictures Epic Stories of the Bible film series, following on from the 2007 film The Ten Commandments. It was written by Ed Naha and directed by Bill Boyce and John Stronach. It stars Michael Keaton as Noah, Ben Kingsley as the Narrator and Elliott Gould as God. As of November 15, 2009, this movie will be released in theaters sometime in 2010. Wikipedia

Other notable names voicing animals are: Jason Lee, Jason Mewes, Rob Schneider, Marcia Gay Harden, Patrick Muldoon, Nicollette Sheridan, Miguel Ferrer, Eliza Dushku and Howie Mandel.

Jason Mewes? Really? The guy plays pothead/foul-mouthed/sex-crazed/dick & fart loving characters. Don't get me wrong, I love him as those characters, but I'm just surprised to see him do voice work in a biblical story. Weeeeiiird.

So what do you Cin-Obs think? Will this one fly under the radar or will we see merchandising everywhere?!

I'm a bit surprised by this too. Jason Mewes in a family flick, and a Biblical one too? Something's gone wrong methinks. Unless the teamup between Jason lee and Jason Mewes hints at a secret director who will do a 'retelling' of the Ark story, hehe.

I have so many problems with anything in the Bible being made into "family friendly fun". There was nothing family friendly about Noah... God decides to take his wrath out and drown the world, and then BAM this one family gets saved, and we all know that the animals are making it in the ark the whole time.

What about that says, "Oh, let's make it a kid's cartoon"?
