The Tempest Trailer Makes Me Jazzed for Shakespeare!

Oh Lordy Loo! I don't think I've been this psyched for some Shakespeare since A Midsummer Night's Dream (1999)! No wait, Shakespeare in Love (1998) has a special place in my heart too. Ok whatever, I love me some Shakeypoo. You do too. Hey, that rhymed.

Anyways - "In Julie Taymor's version of 'The Tempest,' the gender of Prospero has been switched to Prospera. Going back to the 16th or 17th century, women practicing the magical arts of alchemy were often convicted of witchcraft. In Taymor's version, Prospera is usurped by her brother and sent off with her four-year old daughter on a ship. She ends up on an island; it's a tabula rasa: no society, so the mother figure becomes a father figure to Miranda. This leads to the power struggle and balance between Caliban and Prospera; a struggle not about brawn, but about intellect." [IMDB]

Wowza. I can't wait! Not only is the story amazing, timeless, and poetic, but it stars Helen Mirren, Russel Brand, Alfred Molina, Djimon Hounsou, Alan Cumming, Chris Cooper, and many others! What an ensemble!

Check out the trailer and then admit to me that you want to see this.
