Harry Potter Comes To An End!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is already in full promotional swing. The trailer is out!

In case you didn't read the books and don't know what to expect:

The final chapter begins as Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord's three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality. But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again. [IMDB]

Are you a hard-core HP fan? We're fans, but not crazily so, and we haven't read all the books so we can't quite compare. I just find it funny that each film was promoted as the epic of epicness that was ever epic. And honestly, they all kinda seemed the same at the end - wand duels, fantastical creatures, is Snape good or bad? We get it.

I was much more into the first few when they were young and Harry was just being introduced to the world of wizardry. Have the movies lived up to your expectations? Do you think there were too many?

Totally loved the boOks much better.
There was SO much detail in the later boOks, that the movies became choppie. I think they may have overloaded on the special effects. The ending of the book bummed me out so bad, that I haven't seen any of the movies past 4.

Love all the books. Some of the movies could have been better. Like any movie made from a book, details were left out that totally made the book (just like Tom Bombadil in LOTR), but I guess we fans just have to understand that you just can't fit all that greatness into a 2 1/2 hour movie...or even TWO 2 1/2 hour movies. I highly recommend you read the books.

The books are usually a lot better than the movies, since it isn't possible that a movie can touch up on all the points mentioned in the book. I'm not a die hard Harry Potter fan, but I'm usually excited to watch the movie released on DVD. But, I do want to watch this in the movies and plan to convince my boyfriend who isn't really into it as well. I don't think there were too many movies, it's more like it shouldn't be condensed. Were you able to watch the movies yourself?

Kelly and Tricia - we will definitely read the books to see what we've been missing! I've read the first 3, but I'll pick up where I left off :)

Karina - we're up to date on the movies, having just seen Deathly Hallows Part 1. Can't wait to see how it all ends!

I can't wait to see how it ends as well! That reminds me, I haven't read any of the books since the 4th one. I should continue reading the rest to see what details I have been missing out on. Hope the ending will turn out to be great!

I'm just now getting around to watching the Harry Potter movies.

No idea why it's such a big deal.
