Dorian Gray

Ben Barnes and Colin Firth star in the upcoming drama, Dorian Gray, based on Oscar Wilde's classic novel.

Lord Henry Wotton (Firth) seduces young, naive Dorian Gray (Barnes) into a rich, hedonistic lifestyle in Victorian England.

An artist friend of Lord Wotton (played by Ben Chaplin) paints a portrait of Gray, and when he sees it he swears he would give his soul to remain as youthful and beautiful forever.

His life plunges into darkness after selling his soul for youth, and the painting ages in his place.

Hmmm... how do we know this story??.... OH YEAH! Phantom of The Paradise (1974) was the modern retelling of this classic tale, and that's where we first learned about Faust, and selling your soul for rock 'n roll! In the case of Dorian Gray, he sells it for youth, but whatever. It's a timeless story that we could watch a million times.

We knowzit that Firth's got the acting skills, and Ben Barnes don't hurt the eyes either. We're also always up for a good dark storyline, and a good period piece. Victorian costumes are always fun-fun.

Dorian Gray will be released in the UK on September 9th, but no release date is set for North America. Dangit.

We'd sell our souls to see it...
