Funny People

We make no secrets that we looove Judd Apatow and his whole crew, so Funny People is one we've been waiting for. The film stars Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen as stand-up comedians, with Sandler as the mentor, teaching young new-comer Rogen the ropes.

There's a bit of drama thrown in here too, with Sandler's character facing a life-threatening blood disease. HILARIOUS! Just kidding. We know Sandler's got the acting chops for it. There's even talk of an Oscar for him. He's gonna go the Will Smith route - wow everyone with great comedies and light characters, then BAM! Turns out he can really act!

Some other notable people to watch for in this movie are Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill, Eric Bana, and Jason Schwartzman.

Interesting tid-bits - Adam Sandler and Judd Apatow used to be roommates, and have been discussing this film for several years now. Also, Apatow insisted that for all the stand-up routines in the movie, the actors had to write their own material. We think Apatow's a genius in his own way, and people are saying he might even be up for the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Funny People. It's about time a comedy got some Academy attention!
