20th Century Fox has obtained the rights to The Lightning Thief, a children's book about a young boy with special powers who is caught in the middle of a war between Greek gods. The concept is reminiscent of Harry Potter (and even sharing a director), being that the boy, Percy, has no idea he is special, until he is recruited at a special training camp for demi-gods, Camp Half-Blood. We gotta say, we're very intrigued!
Logan Lerman (who played Jim Carrey's son in The Number 23, 2007) will star as Percy. Look out for this kid, he's also snagged a role in one of the upcoming Twilight movies. Pierce Brosnan will star as well, so the movie does have some big name star power.
The film should hit theatres February 12, 2010. We're looking forward to montages of demi-gods in training. We think we'll probably be searching for application forms for Camp Half-Blood. Yes... we're that obsessed.
Watch the STRIKING teaser below. Heh heh... get it?

I knew there was more than a balcony at the top of the Empire State. Geeze, how come that's never part of the tour.
