"Upside Down" Takes Star-Crossed Lovers to a New Level

Kristen Dunst and Jim Sturgess (Across the Universe, 2007) star in the new fantasy/romance flick Upside Down, which is apparently about two worlds, one on top of the other, and two people from opposite sides who fall in love.

Or as IMDB puts it, A man searches an alternate universe for a long-lost love from his youth. Much more eloquent than me, IMDB. You jerk. Always making me look bad...

Anyways, the characters, Adam and Eve (oh that's original) are the ultimate example of that all-too-well-known film formula of  "we want to be together but we just can't." I guess Hollywood ran out of ideas, since they've already squeezed dry reasons for two characters to be non-destined to be together... social class, money, family feuds, peer pressure, religion, war, etc etc. Then some guy in a studio board room was like "Wait, wait! I've GOT IT! Let's fuck with physics."

Seriously though, I'm just jokey-jokin'. I love this concept and it might make for an amazing film. Actually I've had this title saved in drafts forever since I first read about it. I was all like "the Cin-Obs are gonna be psyched about this one!" After all, we ARE always bitching about remakes and the lack of originality. Also, we're fantasy-dorks, so if you tell us there's an upside down world on top of another one, we're IN.

What do you guys think of this concept?
